UI Names Governor Zulum As First Ambassador

As part of the celebrations that are taking place for the University of Ibadan's 75th anniversary, the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has been given the title of Ambassador by the University of Ibadan (UI) Ambassador.

According to the institution, the anniversary served as a chance for the university community to recognize the significant contributions that Zulum has made to education in the country.

Yesterday in Maiduguri, while the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, was presenting the Governor with an honour plaque, he made the following remarks: "The university has turned 75 years old this year." There is every justification to get the drums out and celebrate the brilliance that the university stands for.

He stated that a celebration would be arranged at a date that would be made public, and he disclosed that the group responsible for arranging the anniversary had been established in February of last year.

He told her, "It's noteworthy to state that you are a part of that tradition of excellence," and I thought that was a very interesting thing to say.

He went on to say that the institution's management had given their blessing to the idea that the governor should be appointed as an ambassador for the university, which had been proposed by the anniversary committee.

"We are here today to decorate you as the first person to be so decorated as an ambassador to the country's premier university." "We are here today to decorate you as the first person to be so decorated as an ambassador to the nation's premier university."

Adebowale praised the governor for his unwavering commitment to raising educational standards, particularly in the states that have been impacted by the Boko Haram conflict over the past 14 years.

Regarding Zulum's contributions to the field of education, he was quoted as saying, "During his first term as governor, he undertook not less than, at least, 556 capital projects and completed 70 per cent of them in four years."

"Education projects accounted for one-third of the total capital expenditures. The construction of giant secondary schools, each with a capacity of 1,500 students, is one of his defining characteristics. In contrast to some of the institutions in the country, the schools have all of the necessary resources at their disposal.

He has proven himself to be a leader that walks the talk by keeping his commitment to the people that put him into office in 2019. "This (Zulum) is the governor that steered the ship of Borno through the twin turbulence of COVID-19 and the unrelenting insurgency."

During the little statements he had to provide, Zulum expressed his appreciation for the distinction that the university had given upon him.

In addition to this, he complied with the university's request to participate in the 75th anniversary celebration as one of the four guests who would deliver lectures during the event.

The following are his exact words: "Let me express my deep appreciation to the Vice Chancellor and the management team for finding me worthy of this decoration as an Ambassador of UI's 75th anniversary."

"I want to reassure you that we will keep working together with you in the future. In order to reposition the education industry, we are going to continue working with you on collaborative projects.

"Borno State University (BOSU) is still in its infancy; it has been around for only four years. As a result, we will collaborate with others in the areas of personnel development.
