Bruno Fernandes on Cristiano Ronaldo: I have no problem with Manchester United and Portugal team-mate.

Manchester United and Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes claimed he does not have an issue with team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and explained the apparent frosty reception he gave Ronaldo earlier in the week

Bruno Fernandes has told Sky Sports News he has "no problem" with Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and believes their unpleasant conversation in the Portugal dressing room was simply a "joke".

Fernandes had a cold handshake with Ronaldo on Monday when the two met up with Portugal ahead of the World Cup during Ronaldo's heated interview with Piers Morgan in which he blasted United and coach Erik ten Hag.
But Fernandes has played down their encounter and believes audio of the film reveals they were sharing a joke.
Asked by Sky Sports News reporter Gary Cotterill following Portugal's 4-0 warm-up win over Nigeria whether he has an issue with Ronaldo, Fernandes responded: "I have no problem with anyone.

"I perform my work and as a manager once stated to me, everything that you can control is yourself. I suppose everyone thinks the same way, you have to manage yourself, do your best and that's all."
Asked if he gave Ronaldo the cold shoulder, Fernandes replied: "Why do you say that?

"They put the sound [on] after. Did you hear it with the sound? You have to.\s" In Portugal we have an issue, that I was watching one of the networks that was talking about it, 'was chilly, was unpleasant', for 45 minutes.

"All of a sudden they go to a break, the national team transmit it with sound.

Portugal#39;s Joao Mario, centre, celebrates after scoring his side#39;s fourth goal during an international friendly soccer match between Portugal and Nigeria at the Jose Alvalade stadium in Lisbon, Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022. The Portuguese team will leave for Qatar on Friday for the World Cup.

"They come back and say there was a joke and cut off at the point where the sound indicates he is joking with me. They advised, "If you want to see again, just go back," but if they do, they'll see the problem for themselves. If they are genuine and explain what was shown in the video, then the public will be aware of the truth.

Cristiano Ronaldo interview: Manchester United star questions future at the club and reveals he felt 'provoked'

"This is the national team, and after the World Cup I'll be concentrating on Manchester United.

Ronaldo criticized United, lashed out at former team-mates, and claimed the Glazer family did not care about the club in an interview with TalkTV that has made headlines over the past few days.

Despite this, Fernandes claims he has not watched the interview while keeping the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as his only focus. Fernandes joined United in January 2020.

When asked, he remarked as follows: "To be honest, I didn't even bother reading the interview, so that's fine with me.

"It's Portugal's turn now, with the national team. The coach emphasized that we are responsible. Since I joined the national team in 2017, he has repeatedly emphasized this point, making it abundantly clear that he views the national team and us as the top priorities.

"Because a World Cup is so rare, we must devote all of our attention to it. Getting the chance to compete in a World Cup is a rare occurrence.

Everyone is ready for Cristiano to play in his fifth World Cup, and they all want to do their best for the team.

After being confronted by Ten Hag, Ronaldo "felt provoked."

After Ronaldo refused to come off the bench last month against Tottenham and left Old Trafford before the final whistle, Ronaldo claims that he felt "provoked" by Ten Hag.

Ronaldo claimed that Ten Hag does not "respect" him the way he "deserves," despite the fact that Ronaldo "regrets" his actions against Tottenham in October and believes that his punishment was excessive.

Ronaldo claimed he had "many offers" to leave United, including one for €350 million (£305 million), in the final segment of his explosive interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

The 37-year-old has stated his intention to play professionally until the age of 40. He is unsure of which club he will be playing for after the World Cup in Qatar, but has hinted at a United exit by saying it is "probably good to have a new chapter" in his career.

Ronaldo has stated that he would be "happy" if Arsenal won the Premier League, despite the fact that United is currently in second place and the Gunners are five points ahead of Manchester City.

Ronaldo said he was "close" to moving to Manchester City last summer before Sir Alex Ferguson intervened in an interview that has already been aired in parts this week. In that interview, Ronaldo was also critical of the Ralf Rangnick era and the club's crop of young players.

According to Neville, Ronaldo has no chance of coming back.

Gary Neville has said that after Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive criticism of Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag, there is "no way back," but he insists that he is not against his former teammate.

Sky Sports quoted Neville as saying Ronaldo will never play for the club again. Ronaldo had previously criticized Neville during an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

Neither, and I doubt he even wants to turn back," Neville answered. "If he was looking for an exit, he wouldn't have agreed to this interview. Even before it happened, he knew it would make headlines and end his time with Manchester United."

Despite Ronaldo's interview, Manchester United has not yet revealed their plans moving forward.
