JAMB has launched an online portal to facilitate communication between tertiary institutions and regulatory bodies about

Mr. Oloyede said academic institutions may publish their courses and admission quotas on the portal.

According to the examination body, all communication between the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), regulatory bodies for higher institutions, and all tertiary institutions in Nigeria will take place on a single, unified platform beginning on January 1, 2023. This change will take effect immediately.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) stated that its Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) was developed as a medium of communication for the stakeholders in the admission processing system. JAMB also stated that the platform will offer these stakeholders various levels of access for communication purposes.

Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar of JAMB, stated on Monday during a meeting to brief stakeholders on the functionalities of IBASS that the initiative was to hasten and ease the flow of requests and approvals away from the current mode of exchanging letters between the institutions and regulatory bodies. The meeting was held to provide information on the functionalities of IBASS.

According to Mr. Oloyede, tertiary institutions would be able to advertise the courses they provide, as well as their admission quotas and prerequisites, if they use this platform.

Additionally, regulatory authorities have the ability to change the accreditation status of schools, as well as the accreditation status of any programs or courses that institutions choose to offer on the platform.

He said that the platform would put an end to the need of letters for requesting and approving things amongst the various institutions and organizations, which is something that typically takes more time and effort to achieve. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) launched the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) in 2017. This system requires all postsecondary institutions to submit the admission status of applicants who have been given admission at the institutions.

Candidates and the tertiary schools of their choice may now take advantage of centralized and automated admission procedures thanks to CAPS.

Through the use of IBASS, communication will be sought and accepted on the platform on the number of students who have been assigned to institutions, as well as newly accredited programs and demister programs.

He said that "as soon as the NUC authorizes a quota, the University of Ibadan or the University of Ilorin would send (JAMB) that 1,000 have been granted to us as a quota, and they will write to us." The National Universities Commission (NUC) will write that a quota of one thousand has been authorized for the University of Ibadan. It will be some time before that occurs, so please be patient.

"At this point, we have the confidence that we can automate. As soon as the NUC gives its approval to 1,000, the notification is sent not only to the university but also to JAMB; we all see it, and we all are aware that 1,000 has been given its blessing. Ibadan is exempt from having to send another letter (to JAMB).

According to him, registrars of various colleges might have access to the admissions of their own institutions by using the automated platform.

In response to registrars' claims that they had been demoted from their jobs of supervising admissions at their individual universities, Mr. Oloyede said that this was done as a reaction.

"Before this point, the registrars of institutions had no influence in the communication, admission, or any other aspect of the process. However, they have been claiming that in their role as chief administrative officer, they too have the right to see what is taking on. They are interested in learning more about the activities of the vice chancellors and admission officials. According to what he claimed, "we have established access for the registrars."

The head of JAMB said that registrars are allowed to give recommendations for their vice chancellors and admission officials, even if they are unable to make changes on the site themselves.

On Monday, representatives from JAMB presented regulatory bodies and the leaders of tertiary institutions with an explanation of the recently upgraded duties of the IBASS.
