Declan Rice: Manchester City pull out of race to sign West Ham midfielder after Arsenal submit £105m bid.

Manchester City end interest in West Ham midfielder Declan Rice after having £90m bid rejected

Arsenal has filed a third proposal for £105 million for West Ham player Declan Rice, and Manchester City are not willing to match or exceed this offer.
After Arsenal presented a third proposal of £105 million for West Ham player Declan Rice, Manchester City withdrew from the bidding process.

On Tuesday, City's £80 million upfront proposal plus £10 million in add-ons for the England midfielder was rejected by West Ham, bringing City's total offer for the player to £90 million.
However, Pep Guardiola's squad has opted not to outbid Arsenal, who have offered £105 million for Rice (£100 million up front plus £5 million in performance-based add-ons).

West Ham's Declan Rice warms up prior to the start of the Europa Conference League final soccer match between Fiorentina and West Ham at the Eden Arena in Prague, Wednesday, June 7, 2023.

Declan Rice's preferred next destination is Arsenal

By not pursuing a deal to sign Rice, City is sticking to its policy of not overpaying for players, even if it means letting one slip through the fingers and into the hands of a Premier League competitor.

They were interested in signing players like Harry Maguire, Jorginho, and Marc Cucarella, but were willing to walk away when the asking price became too high.
West Ham is reportedly demanding a faster timeline for paying the guaranteed price of £105m, although this sum should not provide any significant difficulties.
Arsenal's previous transfer record had been £72 million, which was paid to Lille to acquire Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

This summer, Arsenal's top transfer target has been Rice, who would love to play for the Gunners.

Both the initial offer, which was rumored to be worth £80 million, and a £90 million deal that included a £75 million fee and £15 million in add-ons were turned down by the Irons.
