Jordi Alba confirms Barcelona departure after 11 years and ‘fulfilling what I always dreamed of’.

Jordi Alba, a defender for Barcelona, has announced he will be leaving the club after 11 years.

Alba's departure was first reported by the media on Wednesday morning; the player and the club have since confirmed the report.

When Alba was a young player, he left the club and played for Gimnastic de Tarragona, Cornella, and Valencia before joining Barcelona in 2012.

He has won 17 trophies throughout his 11 years with the club, including six La Liga championships, one Champions League, and five Copa del Reys. His career statistics include 458 games played, 29 goals scored, and 99 assists. He still has matches against Celta Vigo and Real Mallorca to add to those numbers.

Alba expressed gratitude to his loved ones for always being there for him, as well as to the fans, club, presidents, players, and club personnel for allowing him to play for Barcelona.

Barcelona issued a statement confirming his departure and thanking him for his always upbeat and cordial interactions with everyone at the company. Despite his often divisive play on the field, he is popular with fans and teammates alike.

Alba and the club have agreed to mutually terminate his contract, and it has been reported that he would forfeit up to half of his pay. This is a huge step in the right direction for the Blaugrana, who have been attempting to reduce their wage expenditure.

Along with Sergio Busquets, he will play his farewell game at Camp Nou on Sunday against Mallorca. They were two of the finest, if not the best, to ever play their positions for Barcelona. Alba, at 34 years old, has been dependable and, when paired with Lionel Messi, unstoppable over the past decade.
