Video: Minamino levels for Liverpool with rasping drive

Liverpool were facing the concession of the Premier League title early on in their vital tie with Southampton – but only for 14 minutes. Jurgen Klopp’s rotated side have got themselves back into the match and now have the victory back within reach.

During the first half of their pivotal match against Southampton, Liverpool had a 14-minute stretch when they thought they would lose their grip on the Premier League crown. The benched squad that Jurgen Klopp rotates through has clawed their way back into the game and now has the opportunity to reclaim the lead and win.

Nathan Redmond made a fantastic run and scored for Southampton after just 13 minutes of play. This put Southampton up early in the match. Some people may have begun to question the prudence of such high rotation when there were nine different players in the starting lineup, which resulted in penalties on many occasions.

However, it didn't take them very long to get back into the game once they did. A well-worked goal that finished with Takumi Minamino's attempt at the near post allowed Liverpool to tie things up just before the half-hour mark.

That goal will have been a relief for Klopp, in the knowledge that a defeat or a draw would make their already slim title hopes minuscule. With no Mohamed Salah on the bench either, breaking down Southampton could be a much more difficult task.
