The Power of Imagination

Major Reasons Why Imagination is Essential for Progress in Life

Imagination

The power of your imagination is a key to unlocking all of your potentials, whether you realize it or not.

The power of imagination is fascinating to the extent that everything of value you see around you is its product. You are a product of God’s imagination; you will see that shortly as you read through this article. Civilization and advancement in life both for individuals and nations pivots around the power of imagination.

Imagination can be a tremendous instrument for receiving from God, yet many people fail to use it because they don't understand its significance, worth, or influence in their life. However, your creative core is your imagination, and using it is the first step. Imagination is the only limit to what you may achieve!

Imagination is something that everyone possesses to some degree.

Every person has a different level of imagination. The level of this skill varies from person to person. Depending on the individual, it might be extremely strong or extremely weak.

Some people can conjure up clear mental images, while others can only conjure up blurry images in their heads. However, with the right training, your imagination power can be enhanced.

What is Imagination?

Let’s look at Merriam Webster dictionary definition of imagination “The act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality.”

Imagination is the ability of the mind to bring out ideas that are not available to the senses. It is a faculty of the mind to produce intangible concepts, creative ideas, and images that are not seen with the optical eyes but could be turned into finished products when the right ingredients are mixed to them. Imagination helps to boost hope to function effectively as it combines with faith to produce remarkable results. Imagination produces ideas that manifest themselves in hope and metamorphose into action when mixed appropriately.

Why is Imagination Important?

Imagination activates creativity and helps create your future:

A story was told about Asa Candler, the large old kettle and the wooden paddle, and a little piece of paper with a secret recipe. An old doctor sold this recipe to the Asa, he never knew the worth of what he had. The young drug clerk then imagined how huge his recipe was, and how tremendous it will change the course of things around him, and around the world. The old doctor on the other hand, never realized how significant impact that little piece of paper with only a secret formula written on it could make thousands of people around the world millionaires. He never saw the significant proportion of employment that little formula in a piece of paper could give to virtually every country of the world. Indeed, the doctor never saw the massive manufacturing industries that will spring up as a result of the various input they will manufacture that will add to the packaging, marketing, advertising, scientific breakthroughs from the content of that little piece of paper. He never imagined the massive proportion that was to come out of his piece of paper and an old large kettle with the paddle. If he had, no way would he have sold it at a paltry sum of $500?

Asa Candler on the other hand staked his entire savings to acquire the recipe and the kettle. His imagination came alive. His imagination propelled him to make that singular purchase that was to transform into a household name. His hope came alive as a result, and he put faith to work. He transformed from being a drug clerk to a manufacturer of drinks. The drinks that many had to visit his store to purchase and quench their taste. The life of this young man not only changed for the better as a result of that decision, but he was also instrumental to the millions of lives that have been transformed globally. The power of imagination was at work in the life of the young Clark.

Thoughts of ideas when mixed with imagination, and subjected to action can turn around any situation in the life of anyone who so engages, just like the young Clark did. Your race, color, status, and creed are irrelevant to the manifestation of this law. The law of imagination is a universal one. It is a universal principle that has, to a great deal, transformed the lives of many in the world. As you engage this principle, your life also will be transformed, your status currently notwithstanding. At this point, I would urge you to go back to the ideas you have written down and brood over them again. Let your imagination come alive. Note, however, that the changes you intend to see may not happen overnight, it may not happen instantly. Yet, do not be despaired if you do not see the result of this exercise as quickly as you would want. Do not give up on them. Continue to persevere both prayerfully and passionately. Let them occupy a central position in your thought life. Be persistent at it. Put action to your thought. Soon, you will realize that what you have imagined have come through.

Imagination is a booster of hope:

In Genesis, God made an outstanding statement that has shaped, to a vast extent, the power of imagination in the direction of hope and faith.

Genesis 11-6 King James Version.

“And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and to his they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

The power of imagination cannot be underrated. The scripture above painted a picture of the men that thought through in their mind that they were going to build a city and a tower, perhaps to meet God in heaven. They wanted to bring vain glory to themselves. They tried to arrogate to themselves the honor of accomplishment. They never considered that it was God who gave them life and power in the first instance to do whatever it is they had planned. Because they refused to acknowledge the awesomeness of God, he scattered them and put confusion into their midst in that they were unable to bring their expectation to fruition. But there is a salient feature in this story that buttresses the point I want to establish, and that is the power of imagination. Note that even God remarked about that, though they never acknowledged his provision in their lives. God said nothing would stop them from accomplishing that which they have imagined doing.
