It’s time to sell Kylian Mbappe, PSG! Striker's move to Real Madrid is finally on.

Kylian Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he would not be re-signing with the club, thereby forcing PSG to sell him this summer.

A image from the past was the catalyst for this whole thing. A young Kylian Mbappe leans against the wall from the comfort of his childhood bed, surrounded by a collage of posters of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo. His room is covered from floor to ceiling in posters of a Real Madrid great.

Already considered one of the top attackers in the world at the age of 18, the photograph of the then-Monaco front emerged in 2017 as he looked for a new team. He made the decision to join PSG instead of pursuing his earlier aspirations. It seemed inevitable, though, that he would one day suit up for Real Madrid.

It's timely once more, six years later. Yesterday, Mbappe notified PSG that he will not be extending his contract, which is set to expire at the conclusion of the 2019–20 season. Less than a year ago, he turned off interest from Madrid to stay in Paris for at least another two years.

The Parisians find themselves in a classic football dilemma: sell Mbappe now or lose him for nothing next season. Even still, Los Blancos skulk in the shadows.

The French club has made it clear that Mbappe would not be released without compensation. They say he will either come around and sign a new long-term deal this summer, or he will depart for a substantial money. Meanwhile, Mbappe has stated he is not attempting to push a trade and that he plans to spend the upcoming season with Parc des Princes. PSG's position remains unchanged despite his good intentions (if not savvy bargaining tactics). According to the Parisians, Mbappe will be leaving the city by the end of August.

PSG might really benefit from capitalizing right now. Mbappe, a native of Paris, is widely regarded as one of the top players in the world. However, he has never stopped keeping Madrid in the back of his mind. And at this stage, Madrid will almost certainly pay out for a striker if they are in need of one.

Therefore, PSG should take advantage of the opportunity presented to them to allow Mbappe to depart on the best possible terms. It's no longer about supporting a local hero who will bring home the Ligue 1 championship the following year. Instead, the Parisians must make a financial choice that will have a lasting impact on the future of their team. Mbappe needs to be traded.
