High-flying Benfica host out-of-form Inter Milan at Estadio da Luz on Tuesday in a UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match.

Both the Eagles and Inter eliminated their respective first-round opponents, Club Brugge and Porto, respectively, to advance to the quarterfinals. The Eagles have now advanced to the quarterfinals in back-to-back seasons, while Inter has done so after 12 years.
Benfica had a fantastic season in the Champions League this year, finishing first in a group that also included PSG and Juventus (the latter of which was eliminated in the group stage).
Since Roger Schmidt's squad is undefeated in this year's campaign (together with Manchester City and Bayern Munich), they have reason to be confident heading into the Lisbon matchup.

Benfica has scored 23 goals in the tournament this year, second only to Napoli's 25. This is concerning for an Italian team that has been having trouble keeping clean sheets in Serie A recently.

Joao Mario leads the Portuguese team with six goals, while Rafa Silva and the promising Goncalo Ramos have chipped in with five and three goals, respectively.

The Eagles' advantage at the top of the standings was sliced to seven points after a 2-1 loss to championship rivals Porto on Friday as they prepared for Inter.

Schmidt will be hoping that this setback was an exception given it was their first league loss since New Year's Eve.
Simone Inzaghi's Inter have had an up-and-down start to the New Year, as indicated by their abysmal run of results since the middle of February.

After a solid 1-0 victory against Porto in Europe, a losing streak of seven games across all competitions started with a loss to Bologna.

The Nerazzurri have struggled to score goals under Inzaghi, scoring no more than once in three of those seven matches and failing to score at all in the other four.

In a 1-1 draw with Salernitana on Good Friday, Romelu Lukaku hit the crossbar from inside the goalmouth, Nicolo Barella hit the post from distance, and Guillermo Ochoa made a slew of saves to keep the home side in it before Antonio Candreva scored a fortunate equalizer.

However, despite being unable to afford any more off days in front of goal against one of the top teams in this year's Champions League, Inzaghi could find heart in the quality of opportunities produced on the day.
