Man United has joined a host of top European clubs in pursuit of a star player valued at €40 million.

Speculation that Manchester United has joined the race to sign a player from Celta Vigo suggests that he could have a busy summer.

According to 90Min, United is interested in signing Gabri Veiga, joining the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Tottenham, Brighton, Brentford, Newcastle, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

That's quite a list of clubs, but Veiga's play in La Liga for the Galician side has caught the attention of the top teams in Europe.

WhoScored reports that in 24 games (seven as a substitute), the central midfielder has contributed to eight goals and three assists for a team that is currently 11th in the Spanish Primera Division, only five points above the relegation zone.

These figures would naturally increase in a group as exciting and forward-thinking as Erik ten Hag's United.

A total of four cautions and one ejection suggest he has the grit to succeed in the more punishing Premier League.

Even if Veiga's release clause is as low as 90Min claims (and the aforementioned clubs can afford it), it would still set a new benchmark.

Without him, the Galicians' roster would be significantly weaker. Unfortunately, it appears that the Galicians lack the resources to reject any offers.

But Celta can't turn down such a financial gift in the present climate.
