BT Sport's Darren Fletcher was transported to the hospital due to difficulty breathing.

A report from Daily Mail states that BT Sport's lead commentator, Darren Fletcher, was taken to the hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday morning due to anaphylactic shock.

Fletcher's acute and potentially fatal allergic response made him have trouble breathing, prompting his hasty admittance to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Fletcher is recovering from his ordeal and has thanked the "amazing" medical staff he encountered at the hospital in a series of social media posts.

A tweet he posted read:

A scary early-morning episode of anaphylaxis shock caused by an unknown allergen. A lot of trouble breathing, but the QMC staff has been great.

As a result of the overwhelming show of love and support from his fans and peers, Fletcher sent a personal note of thanks.

The messages have cheered me up, and several of them have made me giggle, he said. We value and appreciate your help greatly.

Symptoms of anaphylaxis, also known as anaphylactic shock, can appear suddenly. Itchy skin, swelling of the lips, eyes, hands, and feet, and swelling of the mouth, throat, or tongue can all be signs of an allergic reaction. Weakness, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting are further symptoms.

Darren Fletcher has established himself as a prominent presence in the world of football commentary. He is well-known for his work as a commentator for BT Sport, where he covers major football competitions like the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League.
