According to reports, Chelsea has made a second offer to Benfica to get Enzo Fernandez, a talented midfielder for Argentina and a World Cup winner.
Cesar Luis Merlo claims in the tweet below that Chelsea have made an improved offer of €100m to Benfica, in addition to the offer of a player of their choosing in a swap deal...
Fernandez is not actively seeking a transfer away from Benfica at this time and instead wants to see if an agreement can be reached between the two teams.
Chelsea is still determined to sign Fernandez, who appears to be a world-class addition to their roster.
Benfica has proven to be no pushovers, so they may reject the Blues' latest offer. Fabrizio Romano has previously written for CaughtOffside about Chelsea's desire to add a new midfielder, specifically considering Fernandez and Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Because of Arsenal's interest in Caicedo, CFC may increase their offer to Fernandez to complete the trade before the deadline.
