Raheem Sterling returning to UK after armed break-in at family home | Southgate unsure if he will be back for quarter-fi

Raheem Sterling's return for England's quarterfinal match against France is uncertain, according to Gareth Southgate. "I honestly don't know. It's a situation he needs time to deal with, and I don't want to put any pressure on him.

After armed robbers broke into his family home, Raheem Sterling is leaving England's World Cup training camp and returning to the UK.

After starting two of the Three Lions' three World Cup games so far, Sterling missed England's 3-0 victory against Senegal in the round of 16 after being ruled out of the squad due to a "family concern" shortly before kickoff.

Sterling was reportedly distraught and worried for his children's safety when he heard about the break-in and wanted to return home as quickly as possible.

On Monday, Surrey Police issued a statement that read: "When the residents of the property returned home on Saturday, December 3, they discovered several valuables, including jewelry and watches, had been stolen. They called the police just before 9 o'clock that evening.

Since the things were found to have been stolen after the fact, there was no fear of violence.

Sterling's return to the UK has been confirmed by manager Gareth Southgate, but if the conditions are right, it's believed the player might also go back to Qatar.
On Saturday, England will play France in the quarterfinals.

When asked if Sterling could participate in the competition again, Southgate responded: "I honestly don't know; he needs time to work through this situation, and I don't want to put any pressure on him.

"Family should always come first, sometimes football isn't the most essential thing."

Harry Kane, the captain of England, wished Sterling well and said, "Our thoughts are with him and his family.

Although he is dealing with a private matter, it is never pleasant to witness one of your friends or teammates go through such a difficult time.

In order to make the best choice for him and his family, we will take things day by day.

We wish him the best from the entire team and hope to see him soon.
