Fulham vs. Manchester United - prediction, team news, lineups

On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United will travel to West London to take on an impressive Fulham team in the Premier League, hoping to get back to winning ways.

United sit in fifth place with 23 points after 13 games, while Fulham is in ninth with 19 points after a strong start that saw them win nine of their first 14 games.
Despite three consecutive relegations from the Premier League, ninth-placed Fulham looks like they have the talent to make a run this season. They currently have 19 points after 14 games.

The team led by Marco Silva has a record of 5 wins, 4 draws, and 5 losses in the league this season, but they have scored 23 goals—five more than Man United.

Fulham are fourth in the league in goals allowed with 24, trailing only Bournemouth (32), Nottingham Forest (30), and Leicester City (25), so Manchester United will look to take advantage of that this weekend.

Fulham had won their previous two league games, against Aston Villa and Leeds United, and were riding a four-game unbeaten streak into last weekend's matchup with Manchester City.

Even though Pep Guardiola's team won in the 95th minute on a penalty kick from Erling Braut Haaland, Silva's squad gave a performance that would have given their fans hope for the rest of the season.

When these two teams last met, in May of 2021, at Old Trafford, the score was 1-1, marking the first time Fulham had shared points with Man United in the Premier League since December of 2009.

The Red Devils have won 11 of their past 12 meetings with the London club in all competitions, including a 2-1 success at Craven Cottage in January 2021.

A 3-1 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League last weekend was the end of a nine-game undefeated streak for Erik ten Hag's squad in all competitions.

Man United are now in fifth place in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game in hand on the North London club, and have won seven games, drawn twice, and lost four times in the league this season.

In the meantime, United will be coming into this game on the strength of a recent victory, having advanced to the fourth round of the EFL Cup with a 4-2 victory against Villa on Thursday night.

Now that the break has begun, Ten Hag will be eager to depart with three points, which will put them in excellent position to contend for a top-four finish when play returns in late December.

During his pregame news conference, Man United's manager remarked that the 20-time English champions would "had to be extremely brilliant" at Craven Cottage in order to get a positive result, so the Dutchman would be expecting a response after the team's dismal showing at Villa Park last weekend.
