PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Tells the Buhari Administration that Obasanjo Should Appear on the New Naira Note

Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated that his former boss and president, Olusegun Obasanjo, should be featured on the redesigned Naira note that will soon be rolled out by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The redesigned Naira note will soon be rolled out by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

On Twitter, Atiku, who has recently been trying to repair his decades-long rift with his former boss, Olusegun Obasanjo, suggested that the administration currently led by President Muhammadu Buhari should put Obasanjo's image on the Nigerian currency to serve as an example to "future generations of Nigerians."
The candidate for the PDP posted the following on Twitter: "I celebrate the incredible prowess of His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in restoring peace to Ethiopia. It doesn't surprise me at all. I'm familiar with my employer. During our time in office, he carried out the same activity in Liberia as well as in Sao Tome and Principe.

If for no other reason, he is the most deserved candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize, and I will put his name forward for consideration as soon as nominations are open. The fact that Africa has a statesman with Chief Obasanjo's immaculate democratic credentials is a blessing for the continent. An individual whose portrait should be included on the updated version of the Nigerian naira note in order to encourage younger generations of Nigerians to make sacrifices for the good of their country and continent.

"On behalf of my family, I would like to extend my congratulations to you, President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, on your successful resolution of the war between Ethiopia and Tigray. Also, I want to thank God for the gift of knowledge and vision that He bestowed upon you, since you have done a commendable job of directing Nigeria and the rest of Africa in the right direction. – AA.”

Atiku served as Obasanjo's vice president in 1999. During that time, the two men were embroiled in a contentious period that ultimately resulted in both of them leaving the same political party and joining others.

Despite the fact that he did not specifically mention Atiku's name in his speech, Obasanjo's comment gives the impression that the former president is still not a supporter of Atiku's candidacy.

In the past, Obasanjo has been quoted as saying, "One of the blunders I made when I sought to become the President was picking my number two." However, because it was an honest oversight, God spared my life.

"The second time it happened was when Abacha tried to have me arrested. During the time when he was trying to have me arrested, the American ambassador informed me that they would be the ones to arrest me and that the United States had requested that I be granted asylum. I said 'No'. It's possible that I made a mistake by doing it because I could have ended up dead. I will confess that there are many things in my life that could have been mistakes, but God has protected me from making any of them.
