Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, says his team will not take advancing to the round of 16 in the Champions League for granted despite cruising over Ajax 3–0 at their Amsterdam stadium.

The burden will be off for next week's last group meeting against irresistible Napoli after Mohamed Salah beat the onrushing Remko Pasveer, Darwin Nunez made up for a missed open goal with a well-taken header, and Harvey Elliott scored from a tight angle.

Klopp's side are currently in eighth place in the league heading into the weekend, 12 points behind leaders Arsenal and five points adrift of the top four, albeit with a game in hand over Newcastle United thanks to their victory in Europe. The Reds were stung by ex-Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi in a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

However, Liverpool's recent success (four victories in their last five games) and defensive stability (just two goals conceded in their past 450 minutes of play) make up the greatest stretch of the season for an erratic and injury-hit team.

More importantly, Klopp's men have yet to lose at Anfield this season, having won six of their past seven games there while also maintaining three consecutive clear sheets. If they win tonight, they will extend their home Premier League undefeated record to a remarkable 30 games.

As the heat mounted on Whites manager Jesse Marsch following a disappointing 3-2 loss to Fulham, it couldn't have been easy to hear the supporters chanting their support for Marcelo Bielsa's tenure at the helm.

Twenty minutes in, Rodrigo finally broke the stalemate, but goals from Willian, Bobby Reid, and Aleksandar Mitrovic flipped the game on its head for the Cottagers, who cruised to a victory despite a late consolation goal by Crysencio Summerville for the Whites.

Leeds may have been unlucky to lose to league leaders Arsenal, but their previous losses to Leicester City and Fulham were not close games, and Marsch's squad has now lost four in a row and is just one spot and one goal better from the foot of the table.

Fans of Leeds haven't seen their team win a Premier League match since Gameweek 3 against Chelsea; instead, they've seen their team draw twice and lose six times in that span. Marsch's men head to Merseyside with the joint-worst away record in the 2022-23 Premier League. While only Wolverhampton Wanderers have failed to earn any points on the road this season, Marsch is standing firm in his role as head coach of Leeds United.

This weekend's match against Liverpool seems unlikely to be the catalyst for a turnaround, as the Reds swept last season's two meetings with Leeds, 9-0 (including a 6-0 victory at Anfield in February), and the Whites haven't beaten Liverpool in a dozen attempts since April 2001, when Lee Bowyer and Rio Ferdinand scored to give Leeds a 2-1 victory.

Luis Diaz, Arthur, Joel Matip, and Diogo Jota remain sidelined for Liverpool, and Klopp has decided that it is not yet time for Naby Keita to return despite the Guinea international's recent full participation in training.

While Jordan Henderson departed the Johan Cruyff ArenA with a severe blow to the knee, Ibrahima Konate returned to the bench in midweek but may also need to build up minutes as a substitute first.

If Henderson needs the weekend off to allow the bruises subside, Thiago Alcantara's recovery from an ear infection is welcome news, though it is still uncertain if the Spaniard will be ready to start at the weekend, so Curtis Jones or James Milner may still be needed in the midfield.

For Leeds, players like Stuart Dallas (thigh) and Adam Forshaw (ankle) are out for the season, and others like Tyler Adams, Archie Gray, Leo Hjelde, Luis Sinisterra, Joe Gelhardt, Rodrigo, and Liam Cooper are questionable for the game.

Adams, a regular in the middle, will try to recover from a slight muscle strain in time to make the journey to Anfield, where Patrick Bamford and Rasmus Kristensen will try to earn starting spots.

Bamford should definitely come back while there are still doubts about Rodrigo and Sinisterra's fitness, and Summerville's late performance off the bench against Fulham may not be enough to give him a starting position this weekend.
