Manchester United have held internal discussions over potential £66million transfer

Manchester United have reportedly held internal discussions over potential transfer swoop for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez this summer.

It's time for the Red Devils to bolster their front line and other areas following a rough season, and Nunez appears like a great fit after a successful season in Portugal's top division.

This season, the 22-year-old Uruguayan international has scored 31 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions, attracting to attention from Manchester United and Arsenal.
For roughly €80 million, Darwin Nez will be released from Benfica this summer. A number of elite teams will now meet with him as a result of his new agent's efforts.

As Fabrizio Romano tweets below, Nunez is poised to depart Benfica this summer, with a transaction believed to cost €80m, or £66m.
Darwin was a target for Arsenal in January, but he was not for sale at West Ham. Manchester United had previously explored his name internally.

Nunez may be a long-term successor for Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, as well as an improvement for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, if he joins Manchester United.

It's a good idea for Manchester United to acquire Nunez before Arsenal does, considering the Gunners are unlikely to be able to deliver Champions League football next season.
