Carlo Ancelotti says he will retire when he leaves Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti has said he will retire upon leaving Real Madrid.

Ancelotti's deal with Madrid expires in 2024, however he may choose to extend it after that year.

The 63-year-old is the only manager to have won championships in each of the top five European leagues. He has won the Champions League four times as a manager.

He won the European Cup twice as a player and has coached 10 teams throughout a 30-year managerial career, including AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Napoli, and Everton.

After defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the May final, Ancelotti's Real Madrid team is the current European champion, and the Italian coach expressed his desire to retire "at the summit of football."

Ancelotti stated in a statement to Il Messagero, "This moment at Real will terminate my career. I'll stop after Los Blancos.

"The pinnacle of football is real. After this experience, it seems reasonable to stop it.

On Sunday night, Madrid will face Almeria to open the La Liga season in an effort to retain their crown.
