How to Install Skype on Smartphone:

Skype is a video and voice calling application

It is available both with a free and paid subscription options.

To have the Skype app installed on your smartphone is simple. Follow the steps below, and you are good to go:

Kindly note that this tutorial is for Android users.

Let us get started!

1. Locate the play store. For this teaching, I will be demonstrating with the Android platform, as already stated above.

Locate and click on the play store, as shown below.

2. On the search bar of the play store that opens, type in Skype, and click on the search icon.

3. From the drop-down menu that pops up, locate and click on “Skype- free IM and Video Calls.”

4. On the new screen that opens, click to install the app on your phone and wait a bit as the installation progresses.

The download time depends on the strength of your connection.

Once the download is completed and the app installed, click on “Open” as indicated.

5. You will be required to sign in using your Skype name, email, or phone. That is if you have an existing account. Otherwise, click on “Create Account,” located at the bottom of the screen, as shown below.

Before you create an account, it is necessary to fill all the required fields, assuming you are new to Skype. Then, agree to the “Terms of use” by clicking “Continue.”

Kindly note the caveat on the terms of use, “Skype is not a replacement for your traditional telephone service, and it is not available for emergency calling.”  It is necessary to note. Continue with account creation.

6. In the process of creating your Skype account, click “Allow” in the question “Allow Skype to access your contacts?” By allowing the app access to your contacts, it will be easier to use and communicate effectively with the app.

Once done, your account setup is ready, and you can start using Skype. You can start calling and messaging as you wish.
