Romelu Lukaku: Roma hold talks with Chelsea over loan deal for Belgium striker.

Roma are in talks with Chelsea about taking striker Romelu Lukaku on loan this season.

Although talks are still preliminary, the Serie A club may provide the answer that Lukaku, now 30 years old, and Chelsea have been seeking.

Although Lukaku spent last year on loan with Inter Milan, he has not been included in Chelsea's first team's preseason preparations.

Jose Mourinho, the manager of both Chelsea and Manchester United, now oversees Romelu Lukaku for Roma.

When Mauricio Pochettino was hired as Chelsea's manager in July, he was made aware of the club's intention to trade the Belgium attacker.

It is not up to me to find a resolution if that is what the player and club want. Pochettino made this statement during a press conference on Friday, hours before Chelsea's home Premier League game against Luton Town (kickoff: 20:00 BST).

I won't budge until either the team or the player contacts me. I have come, and I will make the most of what I find.

By the conclusion of the European transfer window on September 1, Chelsea hopes to have settled Lukaku's future, either with a permanent move or a loan agreement that involves a sizable fee or an obligation to purchase.

They are not anticipating a swift conclusion to the transaction, and are open to the possibility of selling Lukaku to Saudi Arabia if there is interest before their transfer window ends on September 20.
