Partner With Enugu Governor-Elect, Ex-lawmaker Urges Incoming Legislature

Mr Nwabueze Ugwu, a former lawmaker in Enugu, has advised the incoming members of the Enugu State House of Assembly to work with Governor-elect Dr Peter Mbah to accomplish quick transformation of the state.

On Saturday, Ugwu, an ex-lawmaker in Enugu, rendered the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu.

In Enugu, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration and a Labour Party-dominated legislature will be inaugurated on May 29.
"It is true that the opposition in Enugu State holds a larger percentage of the legislature in Enugu State," Ugwu stated.
"However, I urge the Enugu State House of Assembly (ESHA) to work peacefully with Peter Mbah, the incoming governor, and his team when it is inaugurated."
"The Assembly should prioritize the state and be aware that we have another Peter Obi in Enugu State in the person of Peter Mbah," he said.

He emphasized that the legislature should remember what happened in Anambra during Peter Obi's tenure and not act in opposition to other branches of government. As stated by Ugwu, the new Assembly members have the ability to make history in the same way that Obi did in Anambra after being impeached twice and reinstated by the courts.
"At the very end , the man, Obi, had a name that is broader than himself and whatever you can think of," he explained.
He stated that the experience caused Obi to shatter an electoral record in the 2016 Presidential votes in Nigeria, where many assumed he would win.
"I anticipate the incoming Enugu legislature to take one or two lessons from that." That you can't undo what time has done.
"It is time for Enugu State to shine in terms of governance, and no one should stand in the way."

"It is necessary for them to work with Peter Mbah's administration to ensure that everything runs smoothly."
Ugwu, on the other hand, warned them not to listen to anyone who asked them to fight, impeach, or prevent Mbah from working.

"Anyone who tells you that, is deceiving you, and I want everyone to be cautious and understand that immunity is no longer tolerated in Nigeria, and that everyone will be held accountable for whatever they do."

"Anyone who is misled into fighting Mbah the governor-elect does so at his risk and will sooner say 'had I known,'" the congressman continued.
Ugwu indicated confidence that the state would see significant changes under the new administration.
Mbah's vow to restore water supplies to every household in Enugu city in six months, he says, is both thrilling and feasible.
He praised the governor-elect's manifesto's motto of "Tomorrow is here" as complete.

As Germain, he praised his initiatives for education, tourism, ICT, industrialization, security, and zero employment.
"I am confident that by the time he is finished with governance, the people of Enugu will be able to beat their chests and say, 'We have again had a governor.'"
He noted former Gov. Sullivan Chime's pre-election endorsement of Mbah and urged those who voted against him to reconsider and support his administration.

"The PDP produced everyone who ran for governor in Enugu State."
I am confident that Mbah is going to be equal in providing community development facilities.
"Our citizens should rally behind him so that the state improves over the next four years."  Ugwu contested for governor under  PDP in the March general election according to report.
