Arsenal preparing Declan Rice transfer talks, but Fabrizio Romano says two other clubs monitoring the situation.

While Granit Xhaka is in advanced negotiations over leaving the Emirates Stadium for a €15m deal to Bayer Leverkusen, the England international is a top priority for Arsenal as they want to make changes in midfield, as explained by Romano.

Even though Rice seems like a perfect fit for Arsenal, the two teams have yet to begin discussions because West Ham is focusing on making the Europa League final.

Romano also mentions Chelsea and Manchester United as possible competitors for Rice's signature, which is a problem for the Gunners.

With the Blues likely out of the Champions League this season, Rice would be better off joining Arsenal rather than Chelsea. However, if Manchester United can finish in the top four, they could be able to entice the 24-year-old.

Although Xhaka has had an excellent season for Arsenal, there is no question that a player like Rice would be an improvement and a stronger long-term option owing to his six years of youth.
