On Saturday night, Vincent Kompany will lead Burnley back to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City in the FA Cup quarterfinals, where he previously played for Manchester City.

It would be the Clarets' first appearance in the semi-finals since the 1973–74 season, while the Citizens would be making their fifth consecutive appearance.
Man City defeated RB Leipzig 8-1 on aggregate to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for the sixth consecutive season on the strength of a stunning 7-0 second-leg triumph at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
With goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, and Pep Guardiola's former club Bayern Munich, Erling Braut Haaland stole the show with a record-breaking five-goal haul, bringing his season total to 39 in all competitions.

City still has a chance to win the treble this season, and they'll be looking to advance to Wembley for the eighth year running when they host Burnley on Saturday. City has won the last four times these two teams have met in the FA Cup, most recently 5-0 in the fourth round this season.

To prepare for Saturday's match, the Citizens have already beaten Championship opponents in this year's FA Cup, as they won 3-0 away at Bristol City in the fifth round last month. Previously, they had beaten Premier League rivals Chelsea and Arsenal without conceding a goal in each of those two rounds.

Since the World Cup break, Manchester City have been dominant at home, going 9 games without a loss and winning 8 of them. In addition, they have won all 10 of their FA Cup home games during this stretch, outscoring their opponents 41 to 4.

They haven't been knocked out of the FA Cup since a 2-0 loss to Middlesbrough in January 2015, but they can't take Kompany's high-flying Burnley team lightly on Saturday.

While Pep Guardiola has been widely hailed as a managerial genius during his time with Manchester City, Vincent Kompany has earned every bit of praise he has received for turning Burnley into a free-flowing, attack-minded side since joining in the summer. This is in stark contrast to the team's approach under former manager Sean Dyche.

The Clarets, who were relegated from the Premier League last year, are currently in first place in the Championship and have been since the end of October.

With a 13-point advantage and nine games remaining, Burnley needs just nine points out of a potential 27 to achieve immediate promotion to the Premier League. Top scorer Nathan Tella scored a stunning hat trick in a 3-1 win at Hull City on Wednesday.

After 11 highly successful years as a player for Man City between 2008 and 2019, during which he won 12 medals (including four Premier League championships and two FA Cups), Kompany is now preparing his team for a difficult journey to Man City in the FA Cup.

Burnley has gone 18 games without falling in all categories, but their last loss came at the hands of Manchester United, 2-0, in the fourth round of the EFL Cup at Old Trafford at the end of December.

The Clarets are in the FA Cup quarterfinals after eliminating Bournemouth, Ipswich (after a replay in the fourth round), and Fleetwood Town. However, they have a tough road ahead of them, as they have lost their last 10 matches against Man City in all competitions by a combined score of 34-1.
