Chelsea hosts Everton in the Premier League on Saturday night, looking to extend their current surge with a fourth straight victory across all competitions.

Last week, the Blues defeated Leicester City 3-1, and Sean Dyche's own blue side defeated Brentford 1-0.
Graham Potter seems to be on to something with his novel three-at-the-back arrangement, as he has weathered a storm of demands from fans for his dismissal while leading the West London heavyweights out of their slump and to a brilliant victory away at failing Leicester in their most recent outing.
Ben Chilwell opened the scoring with an exquisite shot at the near post in response to boos from the crowd. Patson Daka tied the game for the Foxes with a goal of his own, but Chelsea took all three points thanks to a clever pass from Kai Havertz and a scissor-kick effort from Mateo Kovacic.

Despite their recent two-game winning streak in the Premier League, Chelsea still sits in 10th place, 11 points out of a Champions League spot. However, after defeating Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals of the Europa League in 2022-23, a trip to the Champions League is still within reach.

Chelsea will learn their quarterfinal opponents on Friday morning, and in the meantime, they will try to become the first team under Potter to win three consecutive Premier League games at Stamford Bridge since September and October. The Blues have allowed just one goal in their last 360 minutes of league play at Stamford Bridge.

On Saturday night, Potter will have the added responsibility of protecting Chelsea's record-setting 29-year undefeated home streak against Everton, with the Toffees having lost their last 27 Premier League games at Stamford Bridge and risking further demotion should they lose here.

In a match that was determined in the first 35 seconds, Dwight McNeil scored the game-winning goal for Everton against Brentford, cruelly stinging the Bees despite their best attempts over the next 89 minutes.

McNeil was the hero at both ends of the field, clearing an Ethan Pinnock shot off the line as the Toffees climbed back above the dotted line. However, given the unpredictable nature of the relegation dogfight, Dyche's team could easily fall back into the bottom three with another disappointing result.
Everton are currently in a comfortable 15th position in the Premier League, but they are only one point ahead of Leicester, West Ham United, and Bournemouth (all of whom have a game in hand), so Dyche's work is far from over.

Even more concerning is the fact that all three of Everton's victories under the ex-Burnley manager have come at Goodison Park, and the club travels to the capital having gone 11 away games without a victory across all competitions, dropping six and drawing three of their last nine on the road in the premier league.

Five times this season, Everton has lost an away game after allowing at least two goals (a total of 13 against just three for), but in the summer's Goodison Park match against Chelsea, only a penalty from the now-departed Jorginho's team separated the two.
