To succeed Vieira, Palace is likely to approach former Man United and Liverpool stars.

Crystal Palace has already begun the search for a new manager to replace the fired Patrick Vieira.

The south London club announced the Frenchman's dismissal on Friday morning via their website.

Given that Palace had not won a game since December 31, 2022, Vieira's dismissal is not surprising.

What may come as a surprise to many is the apparent replacements Steve Parish is lining up.

Michael Carrick, a former Manchester United player, and current Middlesbrough manager is reportedly in the running.

Patrik Vieira

There's little chance that Carrick will want to leave the club before the job is finished after he's taken the Championship by storm and put the team from Teesside in the running for automatic promotion.

All of Palace's other options are just as shocking.

Having been let go by Merseyside rivals Everton, former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is the current favorite with the bookmakers, according to FourFourTwo.

The Spaniard has plenty of experience, but the expansive and attacking style that Palace adopted under Viera may not suit his style of play.

A big name, but lacking managerial credibility after being fired from Aston Villa is Steven Gerrard, Benitez's former captain, and the Scottish Daily Express's second choice.
