We generated a Europa League score prediction by simulating Real Betis versus Manchester United.

In Thursday's match, Man United will play Real Betis in the Europa League, so we simulated to try to guess the outcome of the match.

A win in tomorrow's second-leg match against Real Betis will put Manchester United in the Europa League quarterfinals.

Greatly inspired by their 7-0 loss to Liverpool, United bounced back with a 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16. Goals from Marcus Rashford, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, and Wout Weghorst led United to victory. Now, United will play in Spain against Betis, who must win by four goals if they hope to advance. After playing to a scoreless draw with Southampton, in which Casemiro received his second red card of the season, Erik ten Hag's team faces Betis. United's Europa League campaign is unaffected by the suspension, as the Brazilian can return to the team on Thursday.

And so, the question becomes, can United move on to the subsequent round? Have a look using FIFA 23.

Computer simulations project a Real Betis victory over a Manchester United team.
Our simulation was carried out in FIFA 23, with each team's rosters being brought up to date to reflect any recent changes due to player suspensions or injuries.

Before hearing about Luiz Felipe's injury, our simulation showed that the home team could line up as follows in a 4-2-3-1 formation: The cast includes Bravo, Salaby, Pezzella, Felipe, Abner, Rodriguez, Carvalho, Henrique, Joaquin, Juanmi, and Perez.

De Gea; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Fred; Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford, and Weghorst are the players we envision in United's starting lineup, which could be a 4-2-3-1.

United played well in the first 20 minutes of the match in Spain, but Rashford, Weghorst, and Jadon Sancho all saw excellent scoring chances go to waste. Betis were struggling to contain United's attacking threat, and the Red Devils took the lead right before halftime thanks to Fred's well-placed goal.

Fred made a mazy run that saw the Brazilian sidestep multiple defenders on his way to the penalty area and then played a quick one-two with Fernandes to create space for the midfielder inside the box. As soon as Fred had a clear shot at the net, he buried it into the top right corner.

Just after the resumption of play, the hosts evened the score when Juanmi scored on a rebound after United's failed attempt to clear the lines. Although the home team still had a chance to win the match on the road, any optimism was dashed when Harry Maguire gave United the lead back.

In the 56th minute, United was awarded a corner kick after Sancho nicked Claudio Bravo's gloves. Maguire, towering over his defender, was able to direct Fernandes' corner kick past the keeper with a powerful header.
United posed a threat from corners throughout the match, and in the final ten minutes, Ten Hag's team scored twice off corners to go up 4-1. Maguire scored his second of the game by powerfully heading in another deep corner from Fernandes.

Finally, Casemiro tallied United's fourth goal not long afterward. Casemrio, who was quite a distance from the goal when Luke Shaw sent the cross his way, managed to steer his header through a crowded area and into the top corner to seal a remarkable victory.

Soccer betting tips for FIFA 23: Real Betis 4, Manchester United 1. (Man United win 8-2 on aggregate)

At the final whistle, the scoreboard read as follows:

The simulation in FIFA 23 shows that United can beat Real Betis 4-1 if they put in another great performance. United's win was crucial as they advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to three goals scored off corners. Ten Hag's squad will now face off against the winner of the other two teams.
