Erik ten Hag reportedly 'pleased' Mason Greenwood charges dropped as Man Utd boss 'has first phone call w

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reportedly called striker Mason Greenwood after charges against him including attempted rape were dropped.

After accusations against Mason Greenwood, including attempted rape, were dropped, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag allegedly phoned the striker.

According to The Sun, Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag contacted suspended striker Mason Greenwood and informed him he was "pleased" that many allegations against Greenwood had been dropped.

A court date for Greenwood, who was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behavior, has been scheduled for this month.

On February 2, however, the Crown Prosecution Service decided there was "no longer a reasonable possibility of conviction," and all charges against the 21-year-old were dismissed.

United, for their part, suspended the player immediately after learning of the allegations and are presently conducting their own inquiry.

A source informed The Sun that head coach Ten Hag recently spoke with the 21-year-old by phone after the charges were dismissed, despite the club reportedly having limited communication with Greenwood throughout.

The Dutchman allegedly made sure the athlete was doing OK on both a physical and emotional level after hearing that the accusations against him had been dismissed.

According to the story, Greenwood, who joined the club when he was six, found the gesture touching since all previous communication had been made via intermediaries.

It's important to note that a call like this does not always mean Greenwood will be re-added to the team. United's women's squad recently voiced their displeasure with the possibility of Greenwood returning, and rumors have it that the men's team feels the same way.
