Only a few weeks after beating Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup, Liverpool will go to Molineux for another Premier League meeting against their West Midlands rivals on Saturday.

The hosts haven't played since losing 3-0 to Manchester City on January 22, while Jurgen Klopp's squad had their FA Cup defense ended by Brighton Hove Albion last weekend.
Wolves' journey to Etihad Stadium to face champions Man City ended in disaster as Julen Lopetegui's side were sliced open for three goals by Erling Braut Haaland.
Haaland opened the score with a header at the 40 minute mark, and he finished off his fourth hat trick of the season only minutes into the second half, slamming home a penalty and tapping home to cap off the scoring.

Although their two-game winning streak in the Premier League was snapped by a three-goal defeat to the defending champions, few would fault Wolves for finishing 17th despite having 17 points and being separated from Bournemouth by just goal differential.

Their latest Premier League home fight against West Ham United resulted in a critical 1-0 victory, stopping a run of four consecutive losses at Molineux, but their record of one win in their previous seven matches across all competitions is not encouraging.

Wolves haven't won consecutive home Premier League games since November 2021, and they still rank last in the league in home scoring with only six goals this season. However, Liverpool also shown a lack of forward incisiveness in their most recent league encounter.

After a dreary 0-0 draw with Chelsea in his 1,000th game as a manager, Jurgen Klopp said he was relieved it didn't finish like Arsene Wenger's, which was a 6-0 defeat.

After losing to Brighton Hove Albion twice in as many weeks at the Amex, Klopp's side was eliminated from the FA Cup in the fourth round after a 1-1 draw in which Lewis Dunk and Kaoru Mitoma equalized Harvey Elliott's early goal.

Despite not being able to defend their EFL Cup or FA Cup titles this season, Klopp was pleased with his team's effort after losing 3-0 to the surging Seagulls in the league and then losing 2-1 in the knockout round.

Liverpool, who will now focus solely on the Premier League and the Champions League for the rest of the season, are mired in mid-table obscurity after going winless in their last three league games. They are currently ninth in the league, 10 points out of the top four, but do have a game in hand on Newcastle United and Manchester United.

Anger is prevalent at Anfield after the club failed to sign more than one player in the January transfer window, and the Reds' record of two victories in their previous nine Premier League away games and one clean sheet in their past 11 away games in the Premier League does nothing to alleviate the situation.

As recently as last month, Wolves and Liverpool fought to a 2-2 draw at Anfield in the first leg of the FA Cup third round. However, Klopp's side won the replay 1-0 courtesy to a stunning goal from Elliott, and the Reds have won each of their past six Premier League meetings at Molineux.
